Nestled amidst the mountains and forests of Đăk Tăng commune, and about 45km from the center of Măng Đen town, Vi Rơ Ngheo ancient village is blessed by nature with stunning landscapes. Notably, the village is surrounded by pots of blooming ground orchids, creating an unusually captivating beauty.
Vi Rơ Ngheo Ancient Village is situated at an altitude of 1,250m above sea level. It's enveloped by the Ngọc Măng Chu mountain range to the South, and Ngọc Ki Ruông and Ngọc Chăng mountains to the West. To the East and North, tiered rice terraces cascade alongside nearly pristine old-growth forests.

Currently, Vi Rơ Ngheo ancient village still preserves many traditional festivals, such as the water trough ceremony, the new rice celebration, the buffalo shed building ceremony, the new communal house (nhà rông) ceremony, and the rice seedling planting ritual.
Approximately 28% of the stilt houses in Vi Rơ Ngheo ancient village are built according to traditional Xơ Đăng methods, and hundreds of rice granaries, deeply imbued with traditional culture, are still preserved here. These homes all hold diverse historical, architectural, and cultural values, with unique designs closely tied to the daily life of the Xơ Đăng community.

In Vi Rơ Ngheo ancient village, the design of house gates and fences is also remarkably unique. All 63 households here construct their gates using repurposed wood from the forest. These wooden gates are very simple, not elaborate, yet incredibly beautiful and eye-catching. The uneven, curved, and straight wooden pieces are creatively stacked by the locals to form house entrances, simple yet distinctively special, unique, and charming.

Beyond just the gates, the villagers also repurpose deadwood from the forest, sawing it into short sections to arrange around their homes, creating a truly distinctive and impressive look that adds unique charm to the houses in Vi Rơ Ngheo ancient village.

Arriving in Vi Rơ Ngheo ancient village, you'll find villagers have planted orchids all along the wooden fences of each home. The fences surrounding the houses are adorned with numerous pots of ground orchids. These orchid pots are crafted from repurposed wood, about 40cm tall, hollowed out, and filled with rice husks and fertilizer for planting the orchids. The entire village space, enveloped by orchids around every house, lends the village a strangely captivating allure.

To date, the people of Vi Rơ Ngheo village have collected, propagated, and cultivated approximately 1,000 pots of ground orchids and epiphytic orchids. They have also organized efforts to enclose, nurture, and conserve 5 hills adorned with epiphytic orchids, sim flowers, and mua flowers around the village. As evening shadows fall over the hills, the pink and yellow hues of the ground orchids give way to a vibrant display of sim flowers, painting the entire forest purple.

Vi Rơ Ngheo Ancient Village has recently been recognized by Kon Tum province as a community-based tourism village, making it the second such village in Kon Plông district, following Kon Pring community tourism village (Măng Đen town). This is a significant step in guiding the development of local tourism products by diversifying experiences for visitors and creating a connected network between community-based tourism villages. Furthermore, it motivates the Xơ Đăng people to preserve and promote their traditional cultural values, offering a great opportunity for residents to alleviate poverty.
